Vrindavan is a town (population: ~63000) in Uttar Pradesh. It is located by the sacred Yamuna river.
Vrindavan is a holy place for Vaisnavism tradition of Hinduism. It is a center of Krishna worship. The town hosts many temples dedicated to the worship of Radha and Krishna and is considered sacred by Vaishnavism.
Vrindavan is also known as the "city of widows". A large number of widows move to the town after losing their husbands. They live in poor conditions spending their time singing bhajan hymns in bhajan ashrams in order to get a free meal.
